Kendal Conrad

Three Shows  |  Three Stages  | Three Dates

I've gotten to photograph Kendal three times now, and every time has been completely different. From meeting her at a smaller show at SoulJoel's, to a huge crowd at a Taylor Swift night, to watching her take the Grandstand stage at the Allentown Fair... it's been really cool getting to photograph her in so many different settings.

Fast Five

First impression?

Her voice. The first time I photographed Kendal, she was opening for The Bacon Brothers at SoulJoel's, and her voice completely filled the room. Everyone loved her. She was also so genuinely nice when I met her, which has been true every time I've seen her since.

Most different of the three?

Definitely Swiftie Night at the Reading Fightin Phils. She performed Taylor Swift songs for this HUGE crowd and everyone was singing along. The line to meet her afterward was crazy long.

Favorite thing about photographing her?

She really works the stage, even when it's just her and an acoustic guitar. She's expressive, she moves around, she connects with the crowd... there's always something to photograph.

Biggest "look at her now" moment?

Seeing her walk onto the Grandstand stage at the Allentown Fair in her cowboy hat and boots to open for Warren Zeiders. I'd photographed her in much smaller settings before, so seeing her up there on that huge stage was really cool. And she completely owned it.

Would you shoot her a fourth time?

Absolutely. Three shows in and they've all looked completely different through my camera. I'm curious where I'll hopefully get to photograph her next!
