Rainbow Kitten Surprise

The Met  |  Philadelphia, PA  |  May 14, 2026

My first RKS show... and definitely not my last. Between the lights, the crowd and how much was happening on stage, this was one of those shows that made me realize just how much I love photographing live music.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise performing live at The Met Philadelphia

Fast Five

First impression?

I knew RKS had a devoted following, but I wasn't prepared for how much energy there would be in that room. The crowd knew everything, felt everything and made the whole show even better to photograph.

Favorite song?

"Dang" and "100 Summers." I can't pick between them. Both ended up on repeat after the show.

Best thing to photograph?

Ela Melo. The movement, expressions, clothes... there was constantly something happening. Some performers just make it really easy to keep the camera on them.

Favorite part of shooting The Met?

Being able to get out of the pit after the first three songs and keep shooting. The show looked completely different from farther back, and the lighting and full-stage shots ended up being some of my favorites.

Still thinking about...?

The lighting. RKS gave me everything... beams, color, silhouettes, huge wide shots. This was one of those shows where I came home and couldn't wait to start editing.
